Development of a street lamp for the city of Utrecht - Netherlands
Spirit of Utrecht Lighting
Proposed by Oppizzi Studio to the city of Utrecht as part of a public lighting project, Soul was designed to preserve the soul and atmosphere of the city of Utrecht. Inspired by the slender stained glass windows of Saint-Martin's Cathedral, the SOUL street lamp comes alive day and night like the stained glass of a cathedral, playing with natural and artificial light through its distinctive reflectors, guiding pedestrians in their direction like a beacon. Its four-reflector structure provides 360-degree lighting, echoing the imposing presence of the Domtoren. This iconic design makes SOUL immediately recognizable, embodying the spirit of the city. Compliant with the Dark Sky standard, SOUL offers an optional central standby lighting mode, reducing consumption from 70 W to 8 W when full lighting is not required. Its unique reflector becomes its signature, visible from afar day and night, making it truly distinctive. Developed through sustainable AEC technologies, SOUL connects Utrecht's architectural heritage, protecting residents through efficient lighting while respecting the ecosystem of this peaceful city.
